McKinsey Quarterly on Web 2.0 for the enterprise

In their December 2010 edition McKinsey Quarterly have only positive things to say about Web 2.0 use in the enterprise. They now use the term Networked Enterprise for those companies using Web 2.0 technologies, which I don't really see as being any more descriptive than Andrew McAfee's term Enterprise 2.0.

My attention was caught by the authors strongly implying that Web 2.0 usage led to increased profit margins and market share. Maybe it does, and certainly our own experience supports this view, but the McKinsey statistics point only to a general relationship between companies that perform better and the use of Web 2.0 in their enterprise. It's very encouraging to see this correlation, but as I'm sure the statisticians at McKinsey know well enough correlation does not imply causation.
